Somatic Birth Integration
Gentle, body-centred nervous system support to process and integrate your birth experience.
Sometimes birth leaves echoes. Sensations, memories, or emotions that keep returning over and over again. You don’t have to carry them alone.
Somatic Birth Integration offers a kind, safe, mother-centred space to gently explore what your body and nervous system may be holding, so you can feel more settled and at home in your body.
Grounded in trauma-informed nervous system care, gentle bodywork, and prenatal and perinatal somatics, this work helps you move from reliving your birth to integrating it, so you can honour your experience and also feel like yourself again.

How it works
Somatic Birth Integration is offered in three sessions, tailored to your needs.
Sessions focus on:
Finding your resources: We’ll begin by gently orienting to what feels supportive and steady for you, we’ll find something in your life or experience that feels good. This helps your nervous system settle before we explore anything more challenging.
Mapping and processing challenges: We take time to notice what shows up in your body as you revisit parts of your experience. You don’t need to retell everything. We follow your body’s cues, allowing sensations, emotions, and responses to be processed at a pace that feels manageable.
Integrating and settling: We support your body to come to a more settled place, helping you feel more connected, less activated, and more able to hold your experience without it feeling overwhelming.
You don’t need to have a clear story, or even know where to start.
We work gently with what’s present, and nothing is forced or rushed.
This is for you if:
You feel “fine” but something in your body still feels unsettled
Your birth was intense, overwhelming, or not what you expected
You notice tension, anxiety, or emotional responses that don’t quite make sense
You feel like part of the experience hasn’t fully landed
You have memories on loop or feel haunted by what happened
You’re seeking trauma-sensitive, body-based support

A little more about how Somatic Birth Integration supports you.
-
Somatics is a body-based approach to understanding and working with your experiences. Instead of focusing primarily on thoughts or words, it pays attention to physical sensations, posture, movement, and the nervous system. Somatic work helps you notice how your body holds memories and emotions, so you can support regulation, release tension, and integrate experiences in a safe, gentle way.
-
Birth in somatic birth integration, isn’t just the moment your baby enters the world. It includes the whole journey: preconception, conception, pregnancy, labour, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, and Motherhood. Each stage can leave impressions on your body and nervous system, and this work helps you make sense of, integrate, and honour the entire journey.
-
Integration in this context means gently exploring your birth story and related pregnancy or postpartum experiences, in a safe, guided way. The goal isn’t to relive difficult moments, or provide therapy or counselling. Instead, you’re guided to make sense of your story physically, emotionally, and relationally, so your nervous system and body can settle and you can feel more present in your life.
-
Somatic Birth Integration is a gentle, body-based process that helps you process and integrate your birth experience. By exploring your physical, emotional, and relational responses in a safe, guided way, your body and nervous system can settle and make sense of what happened, rather than reliving it.
It’s not therapy, counselling, or psychology, but a relational, embodied approach to support your nervous system and help you move forward with ease.
-
In this work you’re met with presence, care, and deep listening, without pressure to be different or to move faster than you’re ready for.
Most people experience this work as supportive, grounding, and relieving. At times it can bring up emotion or intensity as we gently stay with what is ready to be felt. The pace is guided by you, so you can stay resourced and the work remains manageable.
-
This work is informed by my training in Integrated Prenatal and Perinatal Dynamics (IPPD) with Kate White and Lois Trezise, drawing on the pioneering contributions of Ray Castellino, Anna and John Chitty, and others in prenatal and perinatal somatics.
It is relational, body-based, and trauma-informed, grounded in presence, listening, and careful recognition of how your nervous system responds to stress or threat.
You are guided through the process with:
Consent and curiosity, always moving at the pace your body is ready for
Somatic awareness, breath, and grounding, to notice and shift stored patterns
Gentle guided exercises (and touch if appropriate) to reconnect you with safety, choice, and connection
Integration tools to support ongoing nervous system regulation
Somatic Birth Integration is deeply restorative, honouring your story, your timeline, and your innate capacity to heal, while helping your body and nervous system feel more settled, safe, and whole.
